One of the busiest stations in the world. At peak time you can almost float along just carried by the people.It’s pretty utilitarian and lacks some of the flourishes or other stations in Japan.But you can get a train to just about anywhere in Japan from here.There are a lot of food options, lots of different cuisines. The staff are very helpful, which is a good job as it can feel rather vast. But there will be someone to help you get to where you need.

This station is monstrously large. But, everything you need is on one concourse. Just keep your eye on the signs. There’s a luggage drop off space both inside and outside of the gates. The Keikyu Airport Express service goes to Haneda; the JR Narita Express is your best service to the airports. Safe travels.

Station is very large and impressive. Definitely one of busiest stations I have ever been to. I took the yamanote line everything was fine.

It is a very busy and clean station. Thanks to the very good signage, however, also for people who are here for the first time, it is not a major challenge to find the right track relatively quickly and safely. And the best, you have from here access to the Narita-Express (NEX), the train to Narita Airport approx. 60 km east of Tokyo.

Amazing transport hub for trains and metro with great food hall and very helpful staff

We were recommended to stay here instead of city centre due to lower traffic numbers and being a bit quieter for Tokyo standards. Definitely the best advice we took. It was still so central and everything was within a 15-20 minute subway ride but we had the feel of a quieter neighborhood. Would definitely recommend all the hotels in this neighborhood. The hotels were also cheaper in this area so would highly recommend staying near this station for your travels. You will have everything you need. From local mall and eatery to convenient transportation. There's even a good temple nearby to visit!

Easy to use and it's available to transfer to other lines.

Big and clean station, but so crowded.There are several restaurants, gift shop and so on.You can move JR line and Keikyu line directly if you use south terminal.

If you're from an area in the USA where there isn't a lot of public transportation... The train system here in Japan gets a bit overwhelming at first... Don't worry about making mistakes at first cuz it will help you figure out how it works... Especially if you're using an IC card.. I recommend getting one... Let it be known that the bullet trains are expensive! But awesome much more room then an average international flight... The trip from shinagawa to Kyoto is just over 14000 yen ($127 USD) super comfy and rather quiet

This is also a big, nice and clean station. Many lines, inclusing shinkansen pass this station. Guards were polite and helpful when I needed their help to get me a ticket for shinkansen.

One of the busiest stations in Tokyo. Fairly easy to navigate. Most of the lines come in and out of the station. Major lines include Shinkansen, JR local and Keikyū.

So crowded

Very busy station, we took the shinkansen from here to Mishima station. Very helpful JR office staff. Lots of shops to get your bento box for the trip and other snacks. It can be difficult to navigate through the crowds with big suitcases so leave ample time for your journey to the platform and car you need to be in if it is a reserved seat.

Shinagawa station is an extremely busy station and a business hub. If you're into capturing the busyness of Tokyo check this place out during rush hour, it can be quite surreal, especially in the morning between 8-9am.

So complicated and so many train companies are running. But I like its exotic atmosphere. I used this station for Yokohama, Kamakura, etc. Only thing I was not happy, I bought the most expensive ticket for my destination, but I took the slowest train by mistake! It made my journey too long and exhausted. I wish I could speak Japanese..Anyway, it is a sort of Japanese culture!

Trains on time and station is clean. Labels to reach the correct JR line or Shinkatsen ticket window is present

This station looks like an international airport hall...make sure you check your itinerary in advance...several train line are connected as well as the Shinkansen (high speed train)

Lots of food options. You can actually walk to the waterfront from here. Take care during rush hour. Can be thought if you are walking in the wrong direction.

It's busy usually all the time. Make sure to enter before you try and find a bathroom. If you are trying to ride anything else but JR, be aware that you don't want the enter the main gates.

Quite a crowded railway station. Very convenient access for traveling around Tokyo as well as for long-distance traveling to Nagoya, Kyoto & Osaka by Shinkansen. Don't forget to spare some time for buying tickets and finding the right track for your train :-)

Another massive station . The keikyo line ( subway, not part of JR line) ) going to Haneda airport is actually outside of the Shikansen station.

Simpler and less crowded than Tokyo station, but very accessible to JR and other metro lines. This is probably the best station to transfer, if you go from Osaka/Kyoto to Tokyo. It also looks cleaner and well organised than other stations.

This is one of the big train stations. Several lines come to this station. Nartia Express also stops here, so does Shinkansen. Station is always very busy. There are several shops and restaurants are available in the station. There are several hotels like Shinagwa Prince, Takanawa Prince are located close to the station.

This is the major railway station in the Takanawa and Tokyo. Despite its name, this station is not located in Shinagawa ward. There are also the famous Tokaido Shinkansen, which is the Japanese most high speed train.

Shinagawa station is located at 3 Chome-1 Takanawa, Minato City, Tōkyō-to 108-0075, Japan. A modern station with beautiful architecture and a complete range of public facilities, professional staff services, and many visitors who will go to various destinations.

Big station, I was alway lost in here, but still like this station.

JR Yamanote line 0Km!

It is one of the very busiest station. You may have many food options available here. This station is surrounded by many hotels to stay. We have enjoyed many journey from this station while stayed near by hotel in grand prince hotel new takanawa.

We love staying by this station because it's such a hub. Head to Haneda in ~15 minutes, or to Narita directly via the Narita Express. You can also catch the shinkansen here to other parts of Japan. Finally, it's on the Yamanote line and you can be in Ginza (vis Yurakucho station) in minutes. There aren't too many amenities in the station itself, but it's connected to the Atre and eCute malls, and the Wings mall is just outside. The station gets extremely busy during rush hour, so beware!

Great location as a tourist. Multiple trains and lines converge here. There are storage lockers inside and outside the gates, 600 to 700 for up to 3 days, large enough to fit large suitcases. The staff is helpful to foreign travelers. You can also get a rail card (suica) issued here at the automated machines.
